Foster a German Shepherd

Thank you for offering to open your heart and home to a German Shepherd from Rettungs-Haus Shepherds, Inc. We are a not-for-profit, volunteer based organization dedicated to the rescue of German Shepherds in need.  The German Shepherds are then placed in foster homes until we approve their forever home.

Once medically cleared, socialization begins and are reiterated on a daily basis both in the foster home and by attending classes sponsored through Rettungs-Haus Shepherds, Inc.

Training is a lifetime commitment of which Rettungs-Haus Shepherds, Inc. is committed to offering and supporting long after the adoption process has been completed.

All Adoptions are spayed and neutered and up to date on vaccinations, heartworm, and are microchipped.  Our shepherds have also started basic obedience skills through Rettungs-Haus with our dedicated group of volunteers.  All monies received for adoptions are reinvested toward the works of Rettungs-Haus Shepherds, Inc. which allows us to rescue other German Shepherds in need.  This donation is non-refundable.

The following information will allow us to determine what dog will be the most compatible with your family and lifestyle. The dog's welfare is our primary consideration when completing an adoption therefore, some applicants may be refused if we feel our criteria is not met.  Rettungs-Haus Shepherds, Inc. reserves the right to refuse an applicant without further explanation.

If you live at a rented residence, we will need an approval letter from your landlord allowing a German Shepherd to be on the premises; as landlord's insurance providers may contain breed specific policies. Please note, we do not write letters for Emotional Support Animals, and we can only provide documentation for dogs having completed our Service Dog Program.

Requirements To Become a German Shepherd Foster

Rettungs-Haus Shepherds, Inc. desires qualified fosters and adopters for the many shepherds in need of being rescued and placed in a loving home. Since we do not board any of our rescues, we offer a foster-to-adopt option; which allows us to immediately place a dog in need. We make every effort to insure when placing a dog, to consider the foster's lifestyle and capabilities.
